The 'Web3 Support Project' is not just about preservation, but also about inclusivity. It aims to use NFTs to foster the Vatican Library's online community and engage supporters. Don Mauro Mantovani, the Prefect of the Vatican Library, expressed his enthusiasm about the potential of this new technology to protect and share their collection with a wider audience, acknowledging the pivotal role of NTT DATA Italia in this endeavor.

The project offers a unique proposition with its NFTs. These digital assets provide varying levels of access to high-resolution images and information about a curated selection of manuscripts. Sharing the initiative on social media earns a 'Silver NFT,' while donors are rewarded with a 'Gold NFT' that grants access to a larger number of manuscripts. Notably, these NFTs are non-transferable, a feature that sets them apart in the NFT landscape.

This initiative is not just about digital ownership. It's a glimpse into the future of cultural heritage preservation. Don Mantovani hinted at exciting possibilities, envisioning the use of extended reality (XR) technology to create immersive experiences for viewers to virtually explore these historical artifacts. The success of the initial phase is evident, with over 400 NFTs already distributed on the Polygon blockchain.
